So...for the last month or so, I've kept my piggies in the living room. It hasn't been ideal because their 2x6 cage takes up a large space in my tiny living room, and my heating bill has doubled trying to make sure they stay warm. I have a separate bedroom that I don't use for sleeping that is right off the living room. It has a separate heating system so during the day I could just heat that room while I'm at work. I would still have them do playtime, laptime and veggies in their pen in the main living room. The door to the bedroom would be open while I'm at home for after playtime. Do you think this change would be bad for my piggies?

Sounds ideal to me... Is there something that is worrying you about it?

I agree; sounds like a lovely set up. My guineas have their own little radiator in their room and that keeps them cosy unless it's super cold.If you interact with them when you're around that's more than enough.

Okay, excellent! My only fear was the interaction piece. What I've read usually says to keep the piggies in the main room of the house if at all possible. But they'll still be able to hear everything from the other room, see some too. Thank you very much for the input!

I have my pig's in there own room and two are currently being quarantined in my living room. Being able to interact with them in the living room is lovely, but once they have the all clear they will be vacating so they can both have bigger cages and some friends. I think if they where given the option they would choose option B to. :)

Mine live under the stairs in their very large hutch which is just outside the living room. If anything they get more attention out there as we talk to them each time we pass and thry like to try and grab your attention, especially if you're on the way to the fridge. I'm sure they'll be fine

Ours are in the playroom/dining room. I have mixed feelings about them being in the lounge tbh, I'd happily have them, but not the hay and the cage and the poop! We bring them in for floor time and the kids and DH are in the playroom a lot playing the wii etc so they get plenty company.

ours are in the living room but it is quite a large room... It would be nice if they had their own room for all their stuff etc ! I am sure they will be fine x

Mine have their own room off the hall. They have their own radiator when it is really cold.Works well for me as I have two dogs, one of which is way too interested in them

I think it sounds great! Plus when you're home you can leave the door open and pop in and out all the time. Just on a side note about heating, have you considered buying an oil filled radiator? They're very cheap to run. We just got one because we only have an electric fire in our living room, which is rubbish and expensive. You can get them for about £40 for a good one and they cost around 15p per hour (less if you have 'economy 7), plus after they go off they still give off heat for around an hour :)

I think its a great idea because not only will they still be able to see and hear you and have play time still you wont have to worry about such little room in your living room. Win win for all.
