Hi,

New to the forum.

I have two piggies who currently live in a converted wendyhouse, however, I have encountered a few dilemmas and need your help to solve.

I am always worried they will be too cold, therefore, as it was their first winter outside I have used an oil-filled heater to keep the house cosy. The problem is that the heater costs too much to keep running throughout winter, so I need some alternative ideas.

Unfortunately, I don't have the space to keep them indoors, so I need to come up with a different plan for the five months (Oct-Mar) that it is obviously much colder.

I have uploaded some photos of their current house.
1. The hatch door is kept shut throughout the winter and is only opened on nice days in the Spring/Summer. I will be adding some grass trays in the spring/summer and obviously a little hide as well. (Its currently not used hence why it looks boring.)

2. The house is insulated from floor to ceiling, two of the windows open to help with ventilation in the summer etc. and there are two vents inside the house at the top also to help with ventilation in the winter.

This is my current idea, I'm just wondering if you guys think this would be enough? Piggys will be 2 in July, therefore, are still young and not fragile.

I create more storage shelves to move piggy supplies off the floor and eliminate the border in the photo so they can free-roam across the whole shed, therefore, giving them more space in the winter when the hatch/ run is off-limits. I then put a small one layer hutch and put this in one corner, making a ramp from the wired door down to the floor. At night, I shut them inside the hutch where there will be fleeces and a snugglesafe pad if needed. I don't want to use lots of hay as they like to snuggle up in blankets and things. (Yes, there sploit) My problem is will the hutch be warm enough on its own, I could also get a cover to put over at night if needed.

Any thoughts and ideas would be amazing.
