ok so I got my pigs bojangles and Chester not even 3 days ago and I just re did their cage after trying to bond them (currently divided) and look what Chester did ! He built himself a little nest out of their new fleece blankets!
Is this good? Is this bad? He's very skittish and when I tokm him home he hid under their original fleece blanket from when they were both in a box. Lol!

Some piggies do like to burrow under the fleece- my youngest boar dies the same and I often peer into the cage to find him hidden under it. You can stop it if it annoys you with zip ties or clips.

He's just trying to make himself feel safe in his new environment. Piggies take a while to settle in. They are pretty animals and any new place is potentially dangerous for them is there a reason why they are both living separately? Piggies are happiest living together. Young to be careful when bonding them. There is a good guide in here about bonding pigs but I can't link it as I on holiday and on my phone.

I know, @Betsy. They fought after the first night of them being here, so I seperate them. A full day later I tried to bond them in my bathtub and they fought again. Everyone I talk to says that they just need time to adapt and once they do they'll be happy togethor. They've only been here 3 nights. I'll give them some time

@PiggyProdigy you have a flee burrower! I have one of those :))

Regarding your boys, next time you do the bonding it would be great if you could take some videos. It can be hard to see the difference between rough dominance displays and fighting when you're a new piggy parent, so we can help there :)

My two are often in the indoor pen, Scrappy runs about and explores and then sleeps (presumably ) under the fleece. Scruffy goes straight for the nearest thing she can burrow under.... fleece, towel, hay..... she is very much more skittish than Scrapps, but in the 7 weeks I've had them she's starting to show a little bit more willingness to interact with me. Three days is a very short time for a piggy to get comfortable with you. Lots of patience and routine required, so they know what to expect. They are also natural hiders because they have so many predators, so it's kinda instinctual to find a small covered space where they can't be seen from above (bird of prey like to eat them).

Chester is acting pretty naturally.

Tulio does this EVERYDAY. Drives me nuts and has resulted in half carefresh half fleece cage. But he's just an ass, as you're guy is new I'd say let him settle in. Tulio's technique is to turn everything upside down that is on the fleece. Like food bowls, chews and his brother Miguel haha.

My Beautiful Betsy likes nothing more than to make a tunnel in the new hay when I have cleaned out the hutch and hide in it! When I get home tomorrow I'll post a piccie!

Bella is a serial fleece burrower who has actually shown the other pigs how to do it

That lump under the fleece is the criminal :))

As you can see from her naughty little nose poking out when she heard the treat bag!

I'm sure I have loads of these incriminating pics on here somewhere XD

Comet is a hay burrower, but strangely not a fleece burrower...thankfully,considering how bad he gets about the hay lol.

I have currently moved their fleece (snuck in while they were doing floor time) and they can be UNDER something and burrow, but I can see them/ check on them a lot better now (I have awoken 3 times in 3 nights from bad dreams about them and glen and had to check)
