Ive noticed that my girl Charm is eating the cage. The cage is wooden and so shes been nibbling alot, she ruined the old cage like that. And we just got a new cage and its happening again and I'm thinkin somethings up with her teeth? Maybe too long? What can I do to bring them down. Someone said put a piece of wood, but what type of wood, any type? :/
So can someone give me some more information on this...

Guinea pigs teeth wear down naturally in the process of eating, only if there is a dental problem or the guinea pig stops eating for some reason do the teeth overgrow and need treatment.

By giving your guinea pig lots of hay, wooden chew toys (though these are often ignored), cardboard tunnels then she may use those instead. The toys/houses made for pets are made from safe woods. You can also give apple tree cuttings.

Does she live alone? It can be a sign of boredom or loneliness. Some pigs just love chewing their cages.

She doesnt live alone, i tried those wooden toes but she does ignore them :/ we dont give hay to our pigs anymore, 1 because I'm allergic to it, 2 because Pancake got an infection from the dust in it or somethin. How would you get the tree cuttings?

Hay is an essential part of their diet - 80% of their daily diet should consist of hay.

What are you feeding instead?

They eat a lot of grass, and get veggies twice a day and two bowl with a guineapig food mix from the grocery shop.

I would suggest that you look into finding an alternative to feeding hay, I use hay cookies, as it is such an important part of their natural diet. Hay is just dried grasses so as you have access to grass perhaps pick handfuls so they can have it in their cage too.

Ok thanks. I do usually put some grass in their cage as well but they spend quite a bit of time on the ground in the grass eating
