Hi all

Sorry if this is on the wrong board, wasn't sure as to where it would best fit I have 4 piggys now, just taken 2 on from Alan that are longhaired, i had 2 originally, 1 was short haired and the other a kinda semi-long haired abby and I started off with them on shavings and newspaper with hay of course, then went to megazorb and newspaper and have now gone for plain ole newspaper but changing the hutch out more often, since i have now got 2 shelties I was wandering if any of you that have them could give me any advice as to what bedding they use for theirs, what works well etc

thanks

I have a sheltie and a peru x who are bedded on newspaper and hay (changed daily). They are fine on this and don't get matted but I do trim them around the bum fairly regularly and groom them daily too.

Shavings are not advisable for any guinea pigs due to the risk of respiratory infections. x

Eco bale is a shredded cardboard bedding you can get from most equestrian stockists it is wonderful forl ong hairs as they cardboard is reaonable size chunks very absorbing and also makes grooming loads easier nothing gets stuck in their coats costs around £4.50 per bae ( same size as a large bale of shavings)

I use megazorb which is a horse bedding made from paper, it's soft and doesn't get caught in their coats like shavings do. It's also soft on their feet. The cardboard stuff Vikki uses is even better, just easier for me to get Megazorb here!

Newspaper by itself is probably not a good idea as they'll just sit in their own wee

Going back on this post i made a few days ago I was wandering where vikki got her ecobale from, i know wherre i can get megazorb from as i have tried it previously but am seriously tempted to try the ecobale if i can get hold of some, couple of the places ive seen online need you to buy few bales at a time and unfortunately we dont have the storage facilitys, again if anyone has sugestions it would be fantastic!

thanks

Whereabouts in Suffolk are you, have you tried Copdock Country Stores near Ipswich, this is where I get my Megazorb from so they may have it. :)

We have got a a vetbed upstairs, a Igloo downstairs, and newspaper and hay for downstairs too. We also put in shredded paper from the shredder as well!
:)p

i have two long haired piggies - their bottom got a bit matted, but i have now cut their hair and brush them everday. I use vet bed and does sometimes get stuck, but literally it's just a piece of hay and i can get it out fine.
