I'm adopting two baby long haired piggles soon, and thinking about switching from sawdust to another type of bedding such as vetbed or paper bedding. Sawdust isnt too bad but the occasional bit does get caught in long fur. I'm uncertain though! Any owners of long haired piggies got any thoughts? My current short haired boy gets along with it just fine. :hmm:

It would help if we know the breed or type of coat. I have no problems with my sheltie getting anything stuck in her hair as although long is smooth and I cut off ends so it doesnt trail too much on floor, ive had her on hay no problem which is one of worst to get stuck. Iftit is a rougher or curly coat like a lunkarya it may be different, mine lunkarya tries getting hay tangled in for fun I think!

I think they are coronets, though they were very skittish when I saw them so could be shelties! Not curly coated in any case. I never had much of a problem with my previous coronet piggy, just the occasional bit might get caught now and again.

i have a Peruvian cross and use fitch bedding and never had any trouble with it but she was okay on wood shavings too but megazorb was awful. i keep her problem areas short and she's fine.. :)

I have a Peruvian and had a texel.Mine are on fleece with litter trays containing newspaper then finacard then meadow hay.Don't seem to have any problems with bedding

The finacard is 14 pound for 17 kilos but there is a thing called echobed that is 14 for 20 kilos.

Depends of the fur type is smooth haired like coronets or shelties and peruvians then you can get away with hay or cardboard but curlier haired types like alpacas, texels, merinos, lunkaryas it tend to get trapped in their coat and cause knots so I find fleece is better :) I have mainly long haired boys :)

I use shredded paper for my Coronet piggie in my avatar, you can even see him on the paper. :)) As you see from the photo, no problem.

I adore coronets! Paper or shredded cardboard seems a popular option. I would guess that has never got caught up in his coat?

It's never been caught in it no. Sometimes it will float onto his fur but as soon as he walks it falls off. =)

I find the silkier the hair like on coronets and Peruvians etc then the paper doesn't get caught up :)

Fab! To be honest it was a very rare occurrence when any bit of woodshavings got caught in my previous coronet s fur, but the one or two occassions in his life that a piece was tangled (usually on his 'trousers'!) it hurt him a bit to cut it away.

This looks pretty good. I like the combo of fleece and finacard/ecobed! I will order a sample pack and see what its like.
Think the smallest pack is 10 kilos but if you don't like it you can mix it with something else until it is gone.
