Got a question on long haired guinea pigs- when giving them haircuts (especially now given the high temperatures we're facing), how much of the hair on a guinea pig's chin should be cut?
There's a couple of examples below from the The North East Guinea Pig Groomer @ Facebook which give some guidance but is that the maximum one should go?
I ask because I can't remember reading somewhere that the chin/cheek hair or "mutton chops / beards" shouldn't be cut too short as this is a guinea pig's "radar" to guide it around solid objects at night and cutting it too short could result in a guinea pig risking injury through collisions into objects it couldn't sense.
Thanks!
(EDIT: typo)
