So I adopted two baby boars and after a long struggle for dominancy my piggie, Rolo turned on Twix and went to bite him, Luckily nobody was hurt and now they are living in seperate cages. The only problem I am having is, Twix is showing a lot of signs of loneliness, Wheeking, subtle high pitched squeaks, biting cage bars etc. I dont know what to do, should I reintroduce them? Or should I look at giving him up for adoption (It's a last resort because I love my babies to bits!) I just need to know what is best for them both because Rolo seems to be a lot happier on his own and I am afraid that if i look at getting another male to go with Twix (he isn't neutered) then it may happen again and then I will have three seperated piggies and I dont have the space for three seperate cages!

Contact Suzy at Glynneath Guinea Pig Rescue. She offers a full boar dating service. You are soooo lucky to be so close to an excellent rescue with so much experience in bonding boars!

If possible, have both boys rebonded with a character compatible friend each. If a boar is much happier on his own only means that he was even less happy in his previous relationship, not that he is happy on his own. Full boar bonding is the safest way of finding a character compatible friend; the boars will only come home once they have proven that their new bond is durable.

You can think about housing the pairs on top of each other if space is an issue. Boars should have a minimum of 2x5 ft space to minimise the problem of fall outs.

Here is her boar bonding blog, which she is kindly keeping up for this forum: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=59233

You should only seperate piggies if blood is drawn. Reintroduce! Have a towel at the ready to throw over them if there is blood drawn. Never split a fight up by hand, it will hurt! Hope this helps. Keep us posted :))

I just want to say thank you! I panicked a bit when i saw Rolo turn on Twix, I think I will try reintroducing them slowly then look at dating if that doesnt work thank you both !

Thank you for starting this read! I have the same issue going on with my boys and was unsure of what to do!
