I have 2 guinea pigs, bought as both male but as is often the case transpired to be male & female. So the inevitable happens and we now have 2 adorable babies (both female). Boar has been separated since before the babies were born but is obviously lonely. If I have him neutered would I be able to reintroduce him to the girls to live as a group and if so what is the best way to accomplish this?

Morning.. :wel:to the forum...

The forum has lots of great guides to help you decide the best option for your piggie family, we have tagged @Wiebke for you who can give you some more in-depth information.

In the meantime can you please add your location to your profile as it helps fellow members give any answers to questions you may have that may be area/country specific. This can be done by clicking on your username, then personal details, then add location......

Hi and welcome!

Your future options very much depend on the sex of your babies, as well as access to a good neutering vet or a good rescue that offers bonding. In order to help you best explore the various possibilities, so you can make any informed decisions, it would be great if you please added your location and opened a thread in our pregnancy and sexing section. You may find some of the guides at the top of the section helpful. Our pregnancy section is not visible to guests. If you would like a second opinion on the sex of your babies, you are welcome to post preferably clear and well lit pics of the crucial bits in there.

For the time being, you can keep your boar next to his family and even allow him roaming time together, provided there is a firm divider and your constant supervision between mum and his daughters for interaction and stimulation. That should prevent him from being depressed.
