As some of you may have read in my other thread I have a lone 6 month boar.
He's been in his own from a baby apparently.
Anyway I was wondering way the signs are of an unhappy pig are?
Currently wiggy mooches about his cage, eating hay, nibbling on his dry mix and tucking into his morning fresh veggies/salad/fruit. He popcorns in his cage and snoozes on his side sometimes stretched out other times curled up.

When he's out free ranging in the dining room he runs around popcorning and into all sorts. Comes out for an hour in the day.

Does this sound like a content happy pig?

The reason I ask is I havnt got room for 120cm cage nor do I have room for another cage.
Wiggy lives in a 100cm cage.
He's a funny little character.

being a prey speiceis they are very good at hiding things. if he's moping about or looks bored then you'll know :) he sounds like a character

This is the thing he doesn't.
He's very forward piggy a confident boy. Not afraid of our german shepherd ( don't worry I don't free range with the dog in the same room) and he's not afraid of loud noises ie Hoover etc.
He doesn't mope about as he's always up to something in his cage (has various hay treat thingies, bells and willow balls) and as I type he's out now on my lap.

Guinea pigs are social animals and always do well in pairs or groups - it's just finding the right combination. Humans just don't speak pig so can't ever match the level of companionship a fellow piggy can match. I don't think it's fair to wait for signs of depression in a pet before meeting a need (companionship) which is very well known.

Hopefully sometime in the future you will be able to afford the space for a larger cage and can look at finding him a friend.
