(I have to admit feeling a bit embarrassed now, re: Drama Queen thread, and on the same day me posting a moan aswell : :embarassed
My bosses are driving me mad. I have never seen such a disorganised office in my life. There are two people supposed to be on holiday at all times, now we have two Carers on Holiday, two on maternity leave, one off sick, one has recently retired, and the laundry lady is on holiday aswell, and they have given one of the kitchen assistants holiday aswell.
For weeks now we have been shortstaffed and they dont get their a*ses up and get the shifts covered.. by relief staff, or agency workers, god knows. Something.
Now the other day it was only me and another carer on the floor, we should be three really. So a girl from the office helped out.
Now there was a meeting and one of my bosses didnt show up for it, so the woman working in the office had to go in my bosses place. Because the office needs to be occupied at all times, the office girl working with us had to be going back to the office, leaving me and the other girl alone to work. we didnt get a lunch break because we were so busy
And the same thing keeps happening.. tomorrow is going to be horrendous. One girl on duty, two off sick, so even though it should be my day off tomorrow I am back at work, covering a morning shift. But we will still be shortstaffed.
To top it all, I went into the cellar today to look for some more gloves - to find there werent any! :tickedoff:
We searched the building and found TWO boxes of gloves - that will last us half a day, maybe one day if we are very careful.
So I asked for some to be ordered, and was told it will probably take a week for the delivery to arrive!
How are we supposed to give personal care and wipe peoples bums without gloves? Anyone heard of crossinfection before?
I just cant believe it. Office Lady said "well noone told me we were short of gloves" well shouldnt she be bloody checking if we are?
Arrrrrrrrgh...
Went upstairs to the staff room to find a big list on the notice board - "if you can cover any of these shifts please put your name down.." at least 8 more shifts to cover during the next weeks, so I am doing two more on my days off
Have been working since Monday this week, next day off is Thursday next week.. 10 days in a row working, I think I need a break
But I feel guilty not covering a shift when I know how desperate the other carers on duty are for some help - and in the end its not their fault that the office staff dont do their job and get the shifts sorted out!
*sigh*
sorry, but this just really annoyed me. Makes me either want to leave this job, or become office staff and kick arse, not quite sure which.
