I have a boar that lives with 2 sows and a boar who will be shortly living with 6 sows. I'm wondering if I can have them live side by side with grids separating the cages?

Yes, you can. I have/had a similar setup - at one stage I had one boy with his five girls living next to one boy with his one girl. No problems! I now have two girls in the cage between the aforementioned groups as I was hoping I'd mix them in with either group one day. (As it happens, looking highly unlikely!)

I have two pairs living side by side (1 boar and 1 sow on each side) in a C & C separated by grids.

There was alot of upset on both sides caused by the fact they could see each other but this was easily rectified by attaching high correx to the partition grids so they can't see each other.

They can still hear and smell each other and can even see each other when I have one of them out of the cage and they live perfectly happily now.

hmm... think it depends on the piggies, I have two boars that hate each opher to the point where I had to put a stop to them wandering around the floor. Tiger's cage is now on the floor and george would always run towards it and try to get in. I was worried about him hurting himself as he would squeeze his way down the side and not know how to back up!
