hi all
I have 3 guinea pigs and recently they haven’t been getting along ( as they have reached sexual maturity)
I have been advised by others to split them up if it gets worse, as ultimately I really don’t want any of them to get hurt.
I was wondering if one would be happy living alone ?
I don’t want him to feel lonely but I also don’t want any hurt piggies ?
Thank you for all the help

I am currently in a similar position to you.
I have 4 piggies, and due to illness one of my pairs have had to be split and are now living alone.
The single girls I have are only 2 years old.

In all honesty I think it depends on the pigs in question.

One of my girls (I am looking at you Ruby) has made it clear she simply doesn't want to be with another pig - she aggressively charges them even when separated by bars.
Over the past 2 years she has fallen out with multiple pigs (boars and sows), and even when she lived with Lucy it was clear she tolerated her rather than loved her.
They were always separated on a regular basis for 24 hours when Ruby came into season.
So for me it is clear that Ruby is ok as a single pig.

Lucy on the other hand loved living with Ruby, and was very happy to be part of a pair until their bond broke due to Ruby's illness.
Lucy has also previously lived successfully with other pigs.
She is currently separated by bars from my bonded pair, and there is no aggression through the bars at all.
So for me it is clear that Lucy would benefit from the chance to have a companion, and it is my responsibility to make sure she gets that chance

Has your single pig previously lived with another pig?
How old is he?
Why did he fall out with his previous companion?

If you let us know roughly where you are located maybe we can help find a rescue that will date your pig and find him the perfect companion.

Hi
Thank you so much for all the help, I hope everything works out for you !
I have a trio of boars and now they have reached sexual maturity one of the 3 is mounting the other, consequently leaving a few grases ( but nothing serious) although I really don’t want to leave them as a group if it will get worse !
They are 2-3 months old.
They have all never lived alone.
I don’t know the best option really, I am quite stuck as i don’t want any pig to be upset alone but on the other hand I really don’t want any pig to get hurt
Thank you so much for all your help u really appreciate it.
