Has anyone got the Woodlands Thistle's Cottage or equivalent? This is the bigger version: http://www.petsathome.com/shop/woodlands-carrot-s-cottage-31836

I bought one for my baby pigs but I noticed it had glue on the outside - one pretty visible strip and a couple of other globules. It even smells of glue! I've not let the pigs near it yet and am contemplating taking it back to PaH. Just wanted to ask you lot first.

I'd hope that it's perfectly safe because it's made for g-pigs but I'm a bit disappointed to discover that the Woodlands brand is actually Pets at Home. It seemed like a nice, natural, animal-friendly range in comparison to the commercial vibe of PaH. They fooled me!

We bought one of those last summer and it was a pain as it kept falling apart! Had to whack a few ruddy gert big nails in it in the end to stop it falling apart comedy style around the piggies:))

Mine falls apart a lot too, Mum has now fixed it but its not the most stable of things. Once repaired its a nice little house though, Snickers likes sitting on top of it.

Have heard they fall to bits I'm afraid.

I have a wooden house that Monty loves from the garden centre called Woodland Getaway was about £12 never had any problems with it.

Just found it online:

In fact he has 2 - as I wash them on hot days - just scrub them in hot soapy water, rinse and air dry and they are fine. They do a bigger one too and a smaller one.

these wooden huts are cute but after a while they start to smell - i had one once

They are great fun piggies jump on top of them too

I have had one for 3 years and it hasnt smelt or fallen apart! Maybe I have a older version?:{

I have the smaller guinea pig one which worked loose when the two girls both kept trying to squeeze in it together (they're too fat :))) and now Peter jumps on it and headbutts it so its in pieces everyday and I have the large one for rabbits which two of them can snuggle comfortably in and has never fallen apart (yet!)

i bought one too, it fell apart after 3 days and every time i put it back together and placed it in the cage it fell apart again :{ they are good when you fix them so they dont fall apart tho :)
emzie xx

I dont have this but have another wooden hut which slots together (no glue). I got it years ago, it never falls apart and comes apart (unslots) so can be made flat for disinfecting every so often (easier to fit it in a basin flat). I think its great but dont know the make or anything, I got it in a local pet shop at the time
x

i have one and it has been nibbled on and stuff and the piggies were fine, so i wouldn't worry too much, it does fall apart alot though! x

I have one by a different make which is really good and looks about the same. Can't think what the make is for the life of me though..

Oh dear maybe it was my boy marked it with his scent too much inbreeding it did have an odour after a while - amonia smell :( they are cute little huts though and Piggy loved lying inside and also loved to jump onto the roof LOL:))

I had a look at this online. It looks lovely but is made of pine. I always thought pine is toxic to guinea pigs?

I had a few of these huts a few years back, all fell apart. I got so sick of putting them back together that I used the sides as toys for the rabbits to throw around and play with.

I have 2 of the guinea pig sized ones for my 4 girlies but they have flat roofs instead of slanted ones so must be slightly different. I've never had any problems :)

I think you have the same one as me. I've looked at work and they're made by 'Lazy bones' they're good quality if this helps x

I can reccomend this too, i had one for about 2 years or so before it started to go a bit manky on the back wall, i think the piggy at the time used it to go pee and the bottom of the back wall, along the edge started to soak it up lol but 2 years is plenty long enough i supose! To be honest i just use empty boxes most of the time that way i dont waste any money!:)):))
