Please also note that we are a rescue-friendly and welfare conscious place, so our sales pitch for new owners rather runs along the lines of 'Are guinea pigs the right pet for you?' and not so much 'Why you should get guinea pigs' because there are currently too many unwanted and dumped guinea pigs desperately looking for new homes, the same as the other pet species. The silent tide of discarded 'toy pets' is sadly getting larger with every passing year. Guinea pig sales tend to go up when money gets tight because they are unfortunately still seen as a 'cheap' and short-lived children's pet when they are neither cheap nor short-lived in good care.
We prefer not to add to the growning flood in a broken system and therefore prefer to promote long term commitment and responsibility as a priority. Our aim is to provide a realistic picture rather than a cute sales pitch. We get to see all the problems that arise from unrealistic expectations all too often on here anyway.

You can't delete or move threads on here. Only admin can do it and we won't unless there is a very, very good reason. But I will move this thread into the Guine Pig Chat section for you.
Just please post your own material in the Chat sections were it is clear that this is your own take. If you start a blog thread featuring your own piggies and tell us also about the piggies behind the animations together with your videos, I am sure that your thread will be very popular; we have quite a few members blogs in Guinea Pig Chat. You can also post the link to your channel in the Websites sub-section. The Care sections are here for any questions and ongoing support.

This is not a breach of rules. We can be a confusing place for new members coming from social media because we predate them and are independent of them. And we admittedly try to make the best of our independence and full control.
We all love guinea pigs but good and responsible individual ownership is at the very heart of our forum as much as mutual support and respect. Social media are entirely wired towards human interest. This has led to creating very unrealistic expectations of what guinea pigs should be. After all, who wants to see videos of piggies hiding away, squirming, peeing or tweaking when they have had enough cuddling very quickly or may never come to enjoy cuddles? We try to provide a corrective to that as much as possible.
Instead of deleting, we find that threads like this can actually lead to an insightful, thought provoking and enriching discussion for interested members as long as it is done with mutual respect for differing views and experiences. Spaces where this can happen are sadly becoming less and less common.
