He needs a friend and thinking due to his age that getting a successful bond with another boar would be tricky and unlikely to work. I am thinking it would be best to neuter? Any thoughts on this much appreciated :)

6-8 months is the most difficult age to bond boars. Provided that you have a competent neutering vet, by neutering he'll have all the options to try both boar and sow dating - and he will also have these options again if his future companion dies.

That's what I was thinking that it going to be the worst time due to his age. It's actually because I have someone wanting to adopt a friend for their lone boar but I don't have any baby boars anyway to even try. I thought it would be the easiest and most sensible thing to recommend by neutering.
Thanks for the help @Wiebke and @MissBubblegum :)

Any advice on recommending neutering has to hinge on access to a good vet, though! it really makes a huge difference re. risks and post op complications.
