I'm going to be switching to fleece but I need a litter tray. Where can I get a decent one? And what litter bedding should I use? I don't want shavings as my long hair will just drag the shavings around and get the fleece covered. How often do you clean the trays out? Thanks ;)

i just use a bog standard cheap cat litter tray - i buy mine from poundstretcher for £1.29 each. I fill mine with shavings with a layer of hay on the top - for the most part this stops my long-haired pigs dragging them everywhere.

I did try megazorb for a while, but this is like shavings and the longer haired piggies drag it everywhere when they jump in/out of the tray. I also found this cost more as i was buying an 85litre bag almost every 4wks (i clean out the trays every 3-4 days).

The only thing i found that didnt get dragged everywhere was carefresh - but the cost was stupidly high!

If you have a constant supply that you could change daily, you could try lining the trays with newspaper/hay. I personally found newspaper smelt really quickly and my long haired pigs would sit in the wee as it was soaking through the paper - but ive heard it works for others...

Hi for my outside hutch I use newspaper with liberal hay on top for my litter trays (they eat the hay at one end and pee and poop the other!) I have 2, one 'upstairs' and one 'downstairs', one is a regular cat litter tray and one is a huge base of an old ferplast hamster cage with a bit cut out with a ridge in a bid to keep them tidy! They work well for us. When they came inside last winter I used hay again on top of fleece this time with absorber pads underneath, but I have to be honest I got sick of the hay on the fleece in that area so things soon changed when they went outside hence my outside set up hth :)

I got a fab corner litter tray from a garden centre, it clips to the bars & can't be tipped over... & plenty big to be shared between 2!

I got a couple of cheapy cat ones from Wilko's. I use a layer of newspaper on the bottom and hay on top :). I clean them out every couple of days as the newspaper starts to smell.

I got my litter trays from amazon - i can't remember which they were as there are so many tho choose from.

I have a corner litter tray from Wilkinson's & a tea tray that I use for the main litter tray. Although most piggies can't be litter trained as such, one of mine is very clean, she jumps into her tray then out again having done the deed rolleyes

I have used newspaper then a layer of Carefresh, it isn't cheap but it does absorb smells well. At the moment I tend to use newspaper only which I change about 3 times a day as they do an awful lot in there ;)
