I'm wondering if anyone could advise me on litter training......

I started using fleece beginning of december but

My three girls seem to have right idea and mostly wee in the tray but poo where ever they want.

The two boys (their very unexpected sons) just poop everywhere! I'm having to change the fleece daily! The boys are only 7 weeks old will it get better?

I'm not sure if you can successfully litter train piggys but i have heard that some pigs will.

I have just changed to fleece and find that my boys wee in the tray and poo everywhere too,but i just spot clean twice a day and give the fleece a good shake everyday.

What do you use underneath the fleece if you have to change it daily? Is it because it is wet or because of the poo?

Guinea pigs will alway poo all over the place. How tidy they are in terms of peeing is very different and very much depends on character and upbringing.

How often you have to change depends on how much underlay you have. I use towels on newspaper, others use puppy pads on top of newspaper/towels as well.

I pick up the poos about once ot twice daily, but change the fleece every three days for my tribe of seven. The pees on the side are usually in the spots where they sleep an nap.

My 2 boys have not got the idea of peeing in the litter tray. They seem to pee next to the tray but not in it. They poo all over the fleece though. i'm hoping they might get the idea but i'm not sure they will.
Good luck with your 2. I hope * have some success.
It might just be that Rowdee and Gavin are not the smartest piggies on the planet but i still love them :(|)

Guinea pigs are sometimes lazy and just don't want to, sorry if this disapoints you but it's true!:{

Mine pee and poop ALL OVER THE PLACE... I hear about litter trained piggies sometimes but I have four and have not been lucky in the litter training department. What helps is to put the hay in a big crate and have some kind of smell absorbant bedding in it. That way a lot of the pee and poop end up there just by accident.

Thankyou everyone!

I change fleece, towel and paper every other day or everyday with the boys!
Poop is picked up twice a day and litter tray changed every day.
I suppose i was so pleased with the girls taking to it straight away I thought the boys would to! admittedly the boys are still babies so maybe one day they might give it ago :)

I used to have litter trained pigs but I gave up on them when they got girlfriends as it all went out of the window! :)) The funniest thing I ever saw when trying to train them was when Tiger jumped into the litter tray to wee and then positioned himself so he was in the tray but his bottom was hanging over so he wee'd all over the vetbed.

I have now given up and gone back to megazorb! :))
