Hey guys,

Today i went out and bought 3 corner litter trays to go under their hay rack as that corner is always the dirtiest when i clean them out.

I plan on changing it everyday but how do i encourage them to use it?

I put a glove up on picked up the majority off their droppings and put them in there and some bedding they had peed on as i bed them on Fitch which is white so it was easier to see....

Any other tips?

Thanks in advance!

Some piccies of them checking the new bizzare object in their cage, the pics are before i picked up all their droppings.

Peg a bit of fleece over the litter tray. That may encourage them, they like privacy. You could even do it so there is a fringe hanging.Do you have different bedding in the litter tray than in the cage? That may help as well.Good luck

Thanks @madguinealady I was thinking of putting a pellet like back 2 nature in it or maybe just newspaper and hay as it'll will be emptied everyday?

I'll try and make some fleece canopies for them to hide under, thanks for your advice! :D

Good luck. In over 16 years of keeping piggies and housetraining many pets I've never managed to litter train my piggies! Only one of my current brood is even close to being "clean". If you crack it please share the trick ;)

Haha... that sounds promising.. our cats are really good unless it's raining really hard or hail stones they go outside...

Right now Ginger piggie is using it as an extra bed!

mine still poo all over the cage and the odd wee but the majority is in the litter trays.I use a paper based pellet in my rat litter trays that works well.Newspaper stays wet so not good for their feet, they will be in their own wee. Most of my piggy cages are fleece so use aubiose in their trays but rats have main living space covered in aubiose so needed something different. The finacard site sells papelit that is really good, the litter I use I very similar but I get it locally.

Gorgeous piggies!
Maybe try putting some poop in the litter tray, they might see they have been there before and might go again.
I sometimes get the odd poop in the litter box

Thanks I'll check it out, fingers crossed they'll get the hang of it! :)

forgot to say as well they poop while they eat do if you use hay racks put those over the trays.I use cheap meadow hay for their trays and put timothy and orchard hay in their racks
