Hi guys, sorry I haven't been on in a couple of days. I've had lots of appointment with the dentist (had a horrid filling:)>>>) and my CPN... anywho... I'm trying to train Bailey to use her litter tray but she's not using it. I put some poops and wee-wee in there and then fresh litter on top but she's not using it. Am I doing it wrong, or right, or not? Should I just carry on transfering her poop into there, maybe when it's fresh or something? I'm not quite sure how to do this, HELP? It might be a bit more nicer for her and for me too when cleaning and stuff!

Thanks guys... Bailey says 'hiya' and I put a blanket in her little igloo and she loves sleeping in there now!:)p

It just takes times - my first two girls were good as gold from the start always use litter tray for wee's and mostly for poo's. The second girls took about two months to get them as clean as my other girls when they first started living together but are now much much better but still have the occasional wee elsewhere - normally in a bed area

My new boys are a nightmare i have them weeing in three corners so put litter trays in those areas but they push them away and wee on the fleece in the corner, poo's currently just everywhere and anywhere. I just religiously move all the poo's to the litter trays everyday and have now pushed the fleece away from corners to see how we go.

You will never eliminate wee in several places completely I think you just have to be patient. I'm sure for some you never win - i think I am just lucky that my first two girls are clean and the other two have followed suit

My advice is put plenty of hay in the litter boxes so they can eat and wee simultanously they like this:))

i think it is difficult on fleece / vet bed as you can't really scoop up wee's and put them in. George used to be litter trained when on shavings I trained him in his new playpen as I put used shavings in the pan and because he had never weed on anything but shavings he knew what to do. Then I introduced vet bed and it all went down hill! George does still use the litter tray for some wees so I keep it there & it does reduce the amount on the vet bed. I have no idea how to train tiger however as both now on vetbed so unable to scoop up the wees into the pan but at least it's only one piggies wee going everywhere!

I agree, it does take time.
My two boars have only been together 2weeks so they are just about getting used to using litter trays. I try to encourage them by making sure there are poos in there. they seem to be weeing in there but not a lot of poos. I have bought a cat litter scoop from the PDSA shop today to soop up the poos. (It;s mainly for when my parents look after the boys, my mum won;t touch the poo!;))
Good luck and keep persevering
xx

Just seen something really funny think tiger is trying to be a big boy like george. He just got in litter tray stuck his bum out the end and wee'd all down the side and over the vet bed! I was like tiger you are not doing it properly :))

:(|) typical male!

its all about time. mine got used to it quite quickly i have to say! i think it was because of the carefresh in the area - they only wee in those areas! I just did that with layers of newspaper and hay and hey presto!

The only thing i could think of is that if * put newspaper under the vetbed the wee soaks through so you could put a bit of the used paper in the litter tray? I havent even attempted to train my two they like to do their business anywhere and everywhere!

Lol Ive given up with mine, Einstein is very good (even if he is the naughtier of the 2) - he will wee and poo in the same place which I have no designated as "the loo". Albert goes wherever (I'm sure he has a wee wee problem, maybe he just drinks more, I dont know) and whenever he wants... Ive had to borrow a carpet cleaner now for floor time. Bless him. rolleyes

I reckon they're either litter-trained from birth or will just never learn!

Colin, my single boar has always been v good. Always used to go in the corner of his cage, until I moved in with my b'friend. Now he saves them all up until he's allowed out and uses the corner of the living room instead, haha.

My pair of boars go whever and wherever they like, and don't move once they've finished either, messy boys. There's no hope in training them...

Thanks for this think it might work I am trying it tonight I have scrubbed the cage and put one of the pieces of newspaper from underneath the vetbed in bottom of littertray with litter and a few poos on top. I don't mind if they don't always poo in it but weeing in it would be great!

Will keep you posted on how it goes!
