Hi everyone, my names Ashley. I have a 5 year old baby named Oliver. I come here all the time for info so I figured I’d make an account.
I recently noticed yesterday after giving Oliver some chin scratches he has a little up under his chin in between his jaw bone. It doesn’t seem to phase him. It moves, kinda reminds me of my pooches lipoma. But he was recently diagnosed with heart disease (he has been doing phenomenal in regards to this) and I’m a paranoid mama. 🥲 any advice? Hes gonna get into the vet either Tomorrow or Thursday

He’s eating
Drinking
Peeing/Pooping
Everything normally

Sorry to hear Oliver has a lump. You are doing the right thing getting it checked. Hopefully it will be just a cyst or a fatty lump. I hope the appointment goes well.

Hi and welcome

This is something that really requires a hands-on vet examination since it is in a very sensitive area and could be a few different things but its location is as crucial as its nature in this case, including the growth rate. All of that will be taken into account (including the underlying health problem) by your vet much better than we could sight unseen. I m very sorry; it's not the place where you would like any lump to develop. Small lumps in their early stages do all feel very similar.

Us speculating and throwing further issues into the ring will only fan your concerns but not really help you at this stage. Best wait and see what your vet says and then take it from there. Right now it is not impeding any functions and it is also not painful.

Please switch from the once weekly health monitoring weigh-in on your kitchen scales to weighing daily first thing in the morning for best day to day comparison so you are able to step in with support and can spot immediately when the lump is becoming a problem. The poo output is generally running about a day or two behind events since that is how long it takes on average for food to pass through the system once and then a second time. This will also give you a bit more leeway for contacting your vet first thing in the morning for an emergency appointment on the in case the lump suddenly becomes a problem.
