Lip Or No Lip On Diy Hutch?

Our piggies currently live in an indoor cage while we are building them a nice big hutch to go on our sheltered balcony. I am wondering whether or not to build some kind of lip for the hutch opening to a) stop bedding falling out whenever the door is opened and b) make the piggies less likely to jump/fall out while the door is open. However, the hutch doesn't have a pull-out tray base so would be harder to clean out with a lip.

You could always make it with a removable litter board,one that just slots in/lifts out,that way once you lift it out it'll be no harder to clean out than if it didn't have one.
