We're building shelves/cages in the shed at the moment and have made them with tongue and groove boards, but I need something to protect the wood. I was thinking lino-tiles, but then thought maybe varnish or paint would work? What do you think? ?/

They're unlikely to chew the floor I'd say, maybe they would a little . . . I dunno, does anyone know any pet safe varnish/paint that would stop wee getting soaked into the wood?

Or should I just stick with lino tiles? Or any other ideas? :)

Thanks guys :)

PS, the cages are looking good, can't wait til they're done! I need to go buy some more T&G cos we ran out and using some 30cm high trellis as the front of the pen, with wire across it, so it'll be very easy to make. :)

I'd stick with lino tiles if you have them readily available :) You can always change them ifthey get a bit grim.

Well I'm planning to get some for the floor of the shed where the bunnies are. :) And they are pretty cheap in b&q so I think I'll try them. And there are pink ones for the girls and blue ones for the boys :))

Oooo :) That will look great! I didn't know you could get pink ones, can't wait to see!

Well on the website the b&q value range has pink and blue, so I'll try to get them! I'm using all pink ones for the rabbits (all girls in the shed) but my brother told me that I'm not allowed use pink ones for the male guinea pigs rolleyes

He did say I could decorate the outside of the girls' cage with flowers and ribbons and butterflies or anything I wanted, as long as the boys' cage stayed manly. :))

They sell vinyl tiles at my local pound shop. They may work out cheaper. I have some B&Q vinyl tiles in bunny's hutch and one of them keeps falling off the wall. I can't imagine that pound shop ones could be worse!

Edit: I don't think they are pink though.

I'm in Ireland so we don't have pound shops, we have 2euro shops! :)) I don't think they have lino-tiles but I can check. I really want pink though! :)

The B&Q website says you can get 6 tiles for about £2.50 sterling, and they're 1ft square I think, so it'll work out pretty cheap anyway, well not too bad.

I hope my bunnies don't pull them up, one of them is a bit destructive! I'm sure the piggies won't anyway!

I used the B&Q value tiles in our hutch. I almost got pink ones too, but went for black in the end.

I'm pleased with them for the price, they're dead easy to cut to size too :)
