Hello all! Sorry I've not been around much. Since the arrival of my three 'baby' guinea pigs (who are now big piggies lol) we adopted a 9 week old puppy who has taken up a fair amount of time lol.
Anyway; currently the girls are still in their 4x4 C&C cage and Dumpling (only boy) is in his 140 cage. Now Dumpling is 6 months old I shall be getting him 'done' soon so he will be able to go back in with the girls (when it's safe - I know he can't go in straight after the 'op).
They may well live in the C&C for a while but long-term I will be moving them into a 6x4t rabbit run as it will be spare so it seems to make sense to use it.
The thing is with a larger space Correx isn't any good because of it's maximum 4ft wide size. I have already had to split their current set-up into two trays because it was too big to do it with one Correx sheet - and though it is fine I would prefer one big open space for running about. Plus they are eating the Correx where they go from one area into the other! rolleyes
They are bedded on Cavianthus grass at the moment but I may try the Fitch stuff at some point to see what that's like.
The rabbit run will be indoors and we've decided to keep them indoors. We were thinking of moving them outside for the summer but all things considered I prefer them inside and in many ways it's easier to care for them inside too. So they're not going outside now.
Soooo I was thinking about flooring options for the 6x4ft run and the only thing I could come up with really was to have a Correx layer underneath the whole run to protect the laminate flooring and then a large piece of lino' folded similar to Correx to make sides so I can still have a reasonable substrate layer. Perhaps with Correx down the sides to make it more rigid.
Does anyone do this currently? Any thoughts / pics or alternative options would be appreciated! I'm trying to think about it all now so that I can get supplies in and swap them over as soon as the run becomes available.
