Hi all

We bought two guinea pigs a week ago- all going ok. Have researched and apart from a few things, everything seems to be going OK!

I bought some roll Lino for the floor (after reasearching that it’s recomwnded for easy cleaning) of the bluebell hideaway- from eBay (!) but now it’s down the wood shavings are sliding all over the place! I’m guessing it’s because I bought it cheap?

Does anyone have any recommendations of Lino that won’t make the wood shavings slide everywhere?

Thanks in advance

Put a layer of newspaper on top of the Lino. You could also look at using something different to wood shavings.
There’s a section on this forum that has lots of ideas for bedding :)

I didn’t even think of newspaper! Will do that! Thank you!

We did have a different bedding- think it was a paper one fromnpets at home, but it was too expensive to keep up 🤦🏼‍♀️

You’re welcome. Yes those bedding types can work out very expensive as the come in small bags.
Try searching Aubiose on this forum (that what I use) it’s very cheap and comes in huge bags as it’s design for horse bedding. But it doesn’t have the dust issues like sawdust. That’s just one option but there are lots

There is also Fitch paper bedding. this is made from recycled white paper and is ink free. Not sure what the delivery charges are as we live within driving distance so just collect it directly from Fitch (they are close to Manchester).
I have half fleece and half Fitch bedding for my piggies (with newspaper lining the bottom of the cage). They tend to wee and poo in the Fitch which makes spot cleaning (between the weekly cage cleans) easier as you can just scoop it out and replace it.
