I have two C&C cages stacked on each other, each with 2 pigs, each with aspen shavings on coroplast. So far I just scoop the bedding out every 4-5 days, cursing and getting covered in it along the way (it’s quite messy). I am 9 months pregnant and looking for an easier way to change it out. I’ve heard some people say they cut up big garbage bags to line the cage with, securing it either binder clips on the sides, and then just fold the whole thing up with he shavings inside and throw it away. But wouldn’t a curious pig eat the plastic bag if given the chance? I’m desperate for an alternative but don’t know if that’s the one.

We used to use a plastic table cloth from dunhelm cut to size then on top of that newspapers then on Top of that shavings. Used to be a case of rolling all the paper up and then spray cleaning the plastic tablecloth.

It kept the corex in good condition

First- Aspen bedding isn't good for cavy's. It contains oils that can cause them to get upper respiratory infections which, if left untreated, can be deadly. They should be using paper bedding or something like a paper cage liner. I live in Colorado (USA) and a few local retailers sell the liners. I tried them and found that my piggy tore it to shreds so I wouldn't recommend it. There are also washable options you could try for easier cleaning. Simply go to a fabric store, get some fleece and cut it to fit the cage. You'll have to change it frequently but if you buy enough fabric for 4-5 liners, then you can use a clean one while laundering the dirty ones. Hope that helps! 😉
