Hi guys!
Back again with another issue with my poor yen yen :(
She had surgery last December and now that area just below where she has the scar on looks very strange? It seems to have appeared very quickly and I’m not sure what to do!
I’ve very recently moved to Lincoln so if anyone is in the area and can recommend a vets that would help too! I’m about 2.5 hours away from my regular vets now :(
Thank you

Have you tried looking at the vet list for a more local vet Recommended Guinea Pig Vets otherwise it would be a case of calling a few and seeing what their experience levels are like with piggies. If there are any local rescues as well it would be worth asking who they use as well
Hiya I checked and there was none for Lincolnshire, I asked in a UK Guinea pig group and they told me The Veterinary hospital at Newport are great so I’ve booked in there!

I have a male piggy who also has suddenly lost hair around his grease gland/rump, last Thursday I noticed it, and we are into the vets today. Its all very strange, perhaps your case is different due to her surgery. What age is your girl?

Good luck at the vets x

Awe hope the vets went well! It’s basically just a build up on her butt of wee and poop (how lovely) he gave her a wash and I have some ointment to apply as she seems to have chewed a little of her skin around her bum so keeping an eye on it so it can heal! Really hope yours is okay, mine is just over 3 years old now 💗

Glad to hear its easily sorted! My boy just had hair loss due to his old age, apparently as piggies grow older their hair comes more susceptible to the stuff that comes from the grease gland. Its also seen in male dogs apparently. My boy is 5 years old so definitely a bit older than your girl x
