Today we went to feed our Guinea pigs their vegetables ( pepper cale and cabbage). We hardly change their veggie diet. Our little baby piggie Lola started to limp around the cage, we were very worried about what she had done. Lately her sister who was in the same batch when we got her from the pet store, started becoming territorial and started sniffing around Lola's bum and following her while making juddering noises, old it be that they had a fight? The pigs have a 2 story hutch with a ramp that has beams across which trains them to get up the ramp, maybe she had a tumble or banged her paw? We picked Lola up to see if there was any swelling but we could only notice that her little fingers were more bunched together. She lays down on the side of the sore paw a lot, she still eats ok and poops and wees ok. We have booked her up for an appointment with the local vets. Any advice? We are very concerned.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Is it a front or a back leg? Is there any sign of a cut or a puncture wound (from a bite)?.

It's good that you are taking her to the vet to be checked over. Piggies do have sprains and strains from time to time. If she is still moving around and not shrieking in pain it is less likely to be a break. The vet will be able to tell.

Does your ramp have sides to prevent falls? If not, perhaps it would be a good idea to add a side to prevent any future problems.

Thank you for replying :)
The ramp doesn't have sides but my husband has offered to build some in. We took her to the vets, there was a difference in her shoulders. The vet gave her a painkiller/injection but we are still waiting to see if the injury will heal.
If the injury doesn't get better I will take her back to the vets:)
