Hi everyone. Lilly my guineapig has soft and squishy poop that smells a little, but not quite diarrhoea. She has had a similar thing before and after giving her plenty of hay it has cleared up. She has recently lost her cagemate, but is coping well so far, eating, engaging e.t.c. we have a vet on our street so are going to ask her and seek take her to the vet if necessary. What do you think? Do you think it's something to do with losing her friend?

Soft poops are due to a digestive upset (can be several causes) Please take her off all fresh veg until poops normalise and then for a further 24 hours after. Feed plenty of hay. Switch to weighing her daily so you can monitor that she really is eating enough hay while she is unwell.
Please do see a vet if things don’t settle in a couple of days. Diarrhoea is an urgent situation so if this occurs, then she must see a vet straight away

Digestive Disorders: Diarrhea - Bloat - GI Stasis (No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

Thankyou for your advice. Will take her of fresh veggies until poops improve. She seems oK in her normal self.

Had a really nice chat with the vet on our street. She said that it was most likely to do with losing her friend, although it may be something she's eaten. She made sure she wasn't bloated and said that we should carry on giving her food as normal but just keep an eye on her poos and look out for any changes. If she doesn't show any signs of improving we might get her a friend 🤩. She's lovely and very helpful.
