This may sound like a stupid question,

My loan Boar was adopted on his own from Pets at home as he was said to be aggressive with other piggies.

I was just wondering if i did get him neutered is there a chance that he would fight with a sow ? I've never really heard anyone else say it had happened to them.

Thanks in advance.

hi, i have 2 neutered boars, one so laid back its scary and the other one a typical male (no offence to men)

the younger one i also adopted from PAH and had neutered, my theory was to go with phoebe only a few weeks older than him.

well in short he loved her (he love's everypig/person) she hated him on first sight and told him so. So my pairing didn't work. she also hates a few of my girls.

so in my experience no i've never known a boy to reject a girl, but i have known the girl to reject him!

hope that helps.

Thanks for the help, i don't want to class my piggy as aggressive and not able to be paired just because he didn't work in his previous home, he got adopted before i had him and obviously had his original home, the first home was with another boy who he fought with the 2nd was some had adopted him and put him with 2 other males and he didn't get on with them obviously. I want him to have a friend but think a boy could be two risky, but a girl i think would be best.

So i guess it's all down to the temperament of the girl !

Piggy dating is the best solution to finding any friend - not all neutered boars like the first girl they meet and vice versa.

I would always recommend same sex dating to start with so the risk of neutering and it's potential post op complications can be avoided if at all possible. You've only to look through the Boar Dating Service thread (a sticky in the Rescue and Rehoming section) to see that not all boars labelled as aggressive will reject all other males. In the past 7 years I've only neutered one male as he was too aggressive to bond with another male.

I guess i'll try talking to my local rescue, i tried to emailing about boar dating before but she didn't seem to know what it was :/ i'd like it to be someone experienced and i'd love it to be someone from the forum but it doesn't seem like i can find anyone down my way.

Norman Gormans - didn't know what it was when i asked.
Woodside - say all boys should be neutered even to live with other males.
Little Brambles - No loan boars :/

I would stick with Little Brambles and see if you can get on the waiting list for dating.
