Hi everyone. :)
Recently Daphne has started to lick! :<>
On a recent trip for treatment of a UTI she licked vets hand as he was giving her some Baytril and he looked terrified! Since then she will lick your hand as you stroke her or her sisters, lick your face if you pick her up and generally just lick everything!
Its absolutely adorable, I just wondered if anyone else's pig loves to lick and if anyone knows why they do it?

Yep - my piggies love a good lick! :) If I hold any finger or thumb out towards their mouths, all I can feel is a little tongue constantly licking the finger! I think it is a sign of affection towards the person they are licking, especially if they've known you a while.
 
Licking can be a sign of affection, but it can also be that she is after the salt/minerals on the skin, especially as she is licking everybody.

I did consider this but as she has the same diet as her sister-pigs and neither of them are interested in licking I sort of discounted this? I feed unlimited meadow hay, Excel nuggets and daily vegetables, if this is any help?

Mum was rather put out when Daphne licked the vet but will only turn her nose up or bite any of her offered fingers!:))
 
My toffee is a very passionate kisser, but only with me and OH, if you say kisses she will lick our hand,s fingers, arms whatever she can reach, it is so cute! xx

Haha!

When you stroke her she'll turn her head to lick you. If you stop, she stops licking and looks at you as if to say "Yes...?". They really are human sometimes!

Yesterday I had my piggies on my lap and they climbed onto my shoulder and started licking my neck and sniffing my ears ! x) :))

I used to have a cat who would curl up with me on the sofa, shove his nose in my ear and purr in it :)) Was so cute.

Back on topic, my pigs, especially Archie, will lick fingers too. They have funny little tongues :))
 
Gino is a licker.....he snuggles up under my chin and licks my chin and neck.... there have been occasions hes stretched up and licked me on the mouth....:x Not hygenic Gino!


Dont care what anyone says, hes giving me piggy kisses :)) ( well, thats what I hope anyway lol)

The best description, strangely, came from my Dad, who said "It's like a wet flump!" after she first licked him! Hmm...

OO i could just eat one of those, i am really in the mood for something sweet or some junk food, non to hand though :(
