One of my piggies Lenny has taken to licking my hands quite alot recently.

Does this behavior mean anything in particular?

Or is he treating me as a human salt lick rolleyes:))
 
I think it's just affectionate
 
Almost all my pigs do this, it could be because of salt on the skin, or it could be affection! Pigs only do it when relaxed though.
 
i think your piggy loves you!

my ruby and bethany do it all over my face! so cute, like mini puppies!
 
Only one of my piggies do it, but I think its really cute when she does :)
 
Its nothing to worry about, i just wish my gearge and charlie would do it haha :)
 
I was going to post about this, but found this old thread.

One of my boys licks a ridiculous amount. Just Henry as he is really really placid. If you put a finger in the cage, he will come rushing over to lick it, just as he would if it were food.

When he's out being stroked, it is hard not to get a licking. You have to approach him from behind, because if he sees your hand coming he will lift his head up to get you. I moved my arm away once and he just carried on licking my t-shirt.

Once going, he can literally not stop for a whole episode of Eastenders.

He MUST be getting something off me. :red
 
Lick

Yes one of my boys does this as well... as soon as he is out for cuddle time he will lick all my hands and arms and face if I let him up on my shoulder...
he is the more comfortable of my 2 boys tho.. he will lay right down and have a sleep on my dressing gown when we are watching Tv..

Oh I do x) love him so much !
 
I think it's a bit of both - affection and salt.

One of my guinea pigs was immediately all over my mum when she visited me, licking her like mad, because she had salty skin. But the same girl also liked to lick my fingers when we were having a cuddle, and there wasn't a lot of salt on them usually. I'm missing her - she was the only one ever to do so!
 
I like to think that when my pig lick me, that they are giving me kisses xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

I have had some who kiss & others who don't! Some prefer to nibble - who knows why, but as long as they don't sink their teeth in I'm not bothered!

Where would the world be without some piggy lovin?x)x)
 
aww its soi cute. my rescue piggie has just started doing this.

Tallulah does it as well a groom me by nibbling lightly.

so jealous=[ my pig NEVER does that. he just sits on my lap and stares at me and someitmes he jumps out of my arms =[ ohwell i love gilbert anyways:))
 
just recently my piggie has started to lick me (ive only had her a week!) and she also nibbles at my fingers its really cute
 
tigger and matilda used to lick all the way up my arms when they were babies
none of my other pigs do it though! maybe they were the only ones who loved me =[:))

Haha That sounds exactly like one of my dogs. Licks galore!
 
sHADOW used to do that too when he was still alive, and now Buttercup has done it too ( as well as sharp nipping me and trying to bite) maybe she has mood swings? I haven;t noticed (or don;t remember) my other piggie Truffles licking me though, she probably has. It probably means they are content and a sign of affection. so cute! (not the biting though, that isn;t cute)
 
Of my pigs, Cinder and Spark will lick alot, Cinder licks anywhere (and I mean anywhere not covered) and Spark will lick my fingers, Blaze will sometimes lick my fingers, Spice licked me too. Flame is just happy as long as I don't static his hair, and will give him a chin tickle
 
only one of mine do this its when they start to nibble i start getting worried as it hurts lol
 
the licking is the pig licking salt from you especailly from your hands as we omit salt in weat, even if we ont feel like we are sweating the residue is there, the nibbiling if the pig grooming you :)
 
My late piggy Huxley used to love to lick my hands when he was out but he would also lick my jeans aswell maybe he liked the taste of my fabric conditioner but i like to think he was showing me love.

My new boys Gizmo and Nigel haven't licked yet but hopefully they will i miss my piggy kisses!
 
My piggy seems to lick my hand at any occasion. Like, she'll lick it when she's happy, mostly, but sometimes when she's mad, like for example if I try to pick her up, she'll usually bite me because she absolutely HATES being picked up, but right after she bites me, she begins licking the spot where she had bitten. I see it as being a "sorry, mummy"xx>>> She's so cute <3
