Tico has recently been bereaved. So I was giving her extra fuss and attention just now, and I noticed things crawling in her fur :O

I know it's hard to see. It looks like lice, right? It was a pale colour, 1-2mm long, and thin. Of course I'll take her to the vet asap. She's not losing any fur yet.

Where could she have picked them up? She's been here for three months, and had one daytime stay in the vet but other than that, had no contact with piggies at all.

Once she's been to the vet I will change all her bedding etc. Do I need to replace her hay or is that not where it came from?

I just feel like I can't get anything right :(

I can't see anything in your photo, I am sorry. However, if you have found little white or very pale things crawling in the fur, then this could be running lice

New piggy problems: URI - ringworm - skin parasites

It is quite rare to get running lice in piggies, but I have seen them before in piggies in very poor condition, who have been kept in poor surroundings and who are distinctly in need of a boost to their immune system. My late rescue piggy, Felix, and one of his other rescued friends had lice when we took them in.

If it is lice, then you will need to see a vet for proper veterinary strength treatment to kill the lice, and as a double pronged attack, supplement with the diet with vitamin c to help boost the immune system

I would definitely get her seen by the vet for a full examination and the correct treatment and the correct dosage.

😧It’s making me itch just looking at the pictures. Definitely a vet appointment to identify and treat. 😊
