Good morning everyone,

I posted in my picture thread about my two boys vet excursion yesterday. However I find that it’s best to post it here to get more expert advice on the situation. I hope I’m not violating any rules by doing this.

I read the in-depth sticky on parasites and I just had a few questions relating to lice. My vet recommended ( I see on the forum 2-week intervals) a 3 month treatment for the boys. My vet has been doing this for decades and I wonder if she is doing the right thing here with the treatment?

Another question I have is I see from older posts that F 10 was recommended to clean out the entire cage. Would vinegar and water suffice in lieu of the F10? I also see that I should wash the fleece and towels in a warm temperature. However I clean the cage the night before the vet visit so two days ago and my vet said it doesn’t need to be done until I do my next three day cycle which would be today or tomorrow to fully clean the cage. I also read that I have to wash everything on a warm or hot temperature setting to kill the lice.

Mocha has conjunctivitis in his left eye which I am due to put eyedrops in three times a day for four days and I just wanted to see if this was a common occurrence and if that was normal?

Last thing sorry for the long post I was given a syringe or a few syringes to administer vitamin C orally every day .5 cc.

Are these prescription/recommendations a normal occurrence for guinea pigs? I just want to make sure that my vet is not leading me down a path of disaster but I do not think she is since she’s pretty well renowned.

Thank you for all your time and I greatly appreciate any response and everyone have a wonderful day and stay safe out there!

Sorry for the long post earlier. I wanted to include as much information as possible. Just gave the 2nd dose of drops to mocha. Both boys got their .5 cc of Vitamin C too. Mocha hates the syringe…
