Was cleaning out the cage the other day and noticed Lenny eating poo.... I thought he would just have a sniff and stuff but he ate the whole poo.

Well today he was following George around sniffing his bum (something he doesn't normally do) and as soon as George deposited a poo Lenny ate it up.....right away .... like still hot off the press so to speak.

Any clues ?

Yep, thats perfectly normal. They dont do it all the time but now and again. Healthy cavies poo can be fed to pigs who are poorly or on antibiotics to help balance their gut flora :)

you have to love piggies they do the funnest things ;)

i have never seen mine do that, but i am sure there must be a reason, it must taste nice ;)

He has just had a dose of ivermectin for what we may think is mites but could be fight wounds.....so do you think he is a little low and is self medicating ?

What a smart little piggy eh !

Quite disgusting to watch I have to say xx0

My Greta feasts on her own, i think Lady Iris might too. I was mortified at first but read that its perfectly normal. Now I just say "greedy piggie! Is all this hay, veg and dry food not enough?" hehe! They're so funny ;D

Pleased to hear this bizarre behaviour is normal ..... well I think I am ?
