My son gives the pigs treats when he first gets up, and they know this and are generally excited for it. This morning right before he came down, I was doing something in the hall, and Tomie, who startles easy, kept getting spooked and running into the pigloo where Leela was hanging out... Leela keep rumbling at her and ejecting her. Just then my son came down and offered them cucumber slices and Leela didn't come out to get hers... we opened the cage and lifted up the pigloo and offered her to cucumber directly and she just stood there... we got concerned and picked her up to look her over and once we did that, she seemed to snap out of it and ate her cucumber and was acting normally, twittering away and licking our hands like always. Put her back in the cage and gave them some fresh hay, which she ate happily. Later on in the day, she did come over and beg for snacks like usual. But I'm still concerned about her... at first I worried that she was declining healthwise (she is about 5 and has enlarged kidneys), but after she perked back up I started wondering if she was having an absence seizure or something? Or else she was just irritated by Tomie running into her seconds before and was startled/frozen... or she was 'rebooting' (what my kids call it when the pigs just stare off into space for a few minutes before carrying on as normal.) I called the vet but there is no availability before next week, it's really hard to get vet appointments right now due to restrictions tightening up again for COVID in our province, and it didn't seem major enough to go to an emergency vet with minimal guinea pig experience, as she has been acting normally the rest of the day. Any thoughts?

Hey! Is it possible a loud noise may have scared them? Are they acting normal now?

It's possible the other pig (boisterous baby who kept dashing into the hidey where Leela was hanging out) scared her! And yes, she seems fine now, I've been keeping an eye on her all day.

I would keep a close eye on her, but I don't think, that you have to be concerned.
In my group of five it happens from time to time that one of them is acting a bit strange, if there was a bit of excitement going on between them.
Sometimes Tessy doesn't want to come out of the hidey she sits in to collect the first piece of veggie.
I hope it was just something like that.

She seems normal today... I'm hoping it was just a weird moment from her!
