Dee got her's yesterday that's one of the reasons i was not online first thing. She came to work then we went and she did her computer test and eye check. I'm very very proud, she only missed two questions. But now it means my baby has grown up :-\ :'( It's great but..... well i'm sure a lot of you'll understand.
I don't know how your system works.... tell me.
We do a computer test at the age of 16 here in Victoria, Australia (diff in the other states ::), honestly we should get our act together and do the same thing..) that allows them to then drive with a fully licenced driver on the road :o :o :o But also now they must've completed 120 hours of driving before they go for their driving licence, which i think is great cause it give them a good overall exprience of conditions. The driving licence test consists of a computer test of your driving/knowledge and road sense, then you do a road test and parking test too. BTW it's not cheap either ::)

Sounds about the same here, at 17 they can get a provisional licence which allows them to take lessons either from an instructor or someone with a full licence, then they have to take a theory test, which they have to pass before they can go for their road test. But there isn't a minimum amount of hours practice that they need to have though, like your 120.

hubby Mick is a driving instructor and says he wishes they did do a minimum hours although some of his pupils pass within 10 hours ( he has one of the highest pass rates on the Isle of wight and is very popular, while away he got 17 new calls for lessons but likes to work only short hours as its quite intensive work, new ideas coming from the DSA the governing body for instructors is more questions on their theory a fixed amount of hours of tuition, smaller engine size and a curfew of evening hour driving for youngsters ie if 17 to 21 no driving after 8pm etc and no passengers for first 2 years etc some are stupid, but many are necessary to save young kids lives showing off, the first 2 years if they get more then 6 points on their licence ( 3 for speeding) they lose it and need to retake it , which is good and that happened to Ryan, hes learnt his lesson now though, Liam passed last aug and already has 3 one more speeding ticket he has to retake it,
3 of my kids Stuart Ryan and Liam all have driving licences, 2 to go, with a dad as an instructor the pressures on to pass
although he refused to teach Liam as he wouldn't listen so his college taught him,

Yeah we're looking at something similar, well sort of.... they're thinkig of doing the driver and one passenger only for the first year, and also only certain hours of the day.. only thing is some of these kids work shifts cause of their uni/or taf committments. But i am a 100% with trying to reduce the road deaths / injuries they're horrific here too :'( :'( :'( :'(
It's usually speed, drugs, alcohol or emotions that top the list of deaths and injuries :'( :'( :'( :'( poor families :'( :-*
