As the title says...I found a lavender plant in front of my house and wanted to know if they could eat it? I've searched online and some websites say yes some say no. I know generally all herbs are ok, but is lavender included in this and if so, do they like it?

Thanks :)

It is not poisonous, but like other mediterranean herbs it is very high in essential oils, so they usually won't do more than nibble a little bit. The same goes for rosemary, thyme and sage - all dry area herbs.

Ahh, ok. Thanks Wiebke.
Mine (well the girls anyway) tend to be quite fussy so there probably isn't much point me trying it, but I'll see what they make of it.

Thank you!

My first piggy Spike was allowed to free range round the garden, he used to go and sit under the lavender bush and eat away at it. Strange piggy rolleyes He loved the stuff. I wouldnt purposfully feed it to my piggies now though.
