Lattice/trellis Fencing For Indoor Cage Walls?

Hi

As the C&c cubes are very expensive, I've been looking at alternative walling. Would trellis fencing propped up work?

Here is a picture of what I mean:

But obviously a LOT smaller, would 1ft /2ft be high enough?

EDIT: I'll put wire between the holes, otherwise piggie would easily fit through!

Have seen a couple of cages made with this but would have to be careful of splinters if they chewed

I have used trellis panels to make a rabbit indoor pen before..not tried it for piggles thougb!

I'm not so sure they'd work the lattice spacing tends to be quite large, I reckon a piggy would just walk straight through!

Since you'd need to mesh it anyway why not just get some wood and make a basic open top run? Or since it's going indoors you could buy a cheap ready made one.

You'd need to make sure whatever wood you use is untreated, trellising is often treated to make it weather resistant.

I thought of using them too but having felt the wood it is very very rough and when they climb the bars for food they would be getting splinters. Two of my pigs wouldnt ever chew wood but one would work on that until she could fit through the hole! The wood is quite flimsy i think. I would suggest a cheap wood frame with wire mesh around (nothing too thin though that would hurt their feet).

There is a guy on ebay that sells seperate panels (wooden frame with wire) in different sizes.You can order whatever sizes and combination you need
