Hi... me and my housing qs again!

I've been keeping a really close eye of late on my cats and how they tolerate the current ratty inhabitants and, as much as I love the versatility of it, I'm really doubting that C&C would keep any piggies here properly safe from curious catsrolleyes....sooooo.... and I don't mind the idea of joining cages together IF it can be done vertically rather than horizontally, what are people's suggestions for the biggest cages about?

I know it depends on how many piggies are incoming, but I can always buy 2 if I end up with more than a piggie pair :)

Thankyou
m x

Could you not add a lid to your C&C? If not than the Trixie Rabbit 150 is quite a large cage, someone on this forum recently bought 2 and connected them together.

If you need to go up instead of out, this...

...would do the job. I had the 2 storeyed one before my C&C but wasn't that keen on it. It isn't that easy to get in and get a pig out as there's a lot of awkward bits, also am not sure how much actual floorspace there is because of the ramps. Plus its extortionately expensive.

Have I sold it to you yet? rolleyes:))

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the only place I could find selling the Trixie Rabbit 150: http://www.dabners.co.uk/product-5127-trixie-rabbit-150-indoor-cage.html

It's the same size as a 4 x 2 C&C cage. I went for it over rebuilding C&C as I have chinchillas out in the rodent room which wouldn't be safe with an open top cage. It's also got the height that if a cat did get on top it couldn't reach the piggies wiht a paw.

Jollye's sell the trixie rabbit 150 for around £109.99. I bought mine from there just before Christmas and another forum member has just bought two.

Hey.............my new avatar works! That's Beryl (left) and Gubbins (right) - my very recently married couple!

You made me laugh there! I wuv them! :)

I have got the ferplast 120 £55 from zoo plus, if you could join two of these together that would give you 240cm for the same price, but I don't know if you have the room for that, someone on here joined two with a plastic tube.

that was me I think! LOL! I have 2 Rabbit 140s connected by a tube (£95 each online only at P@H) for the 4 girls, and 2 Rabbit 120s (£50 each at Just for Pets) for Mango and Badger. They do take up a fair bit of space doing it that way though

I just bought two Trixie Rabbit 150s from Jollyes as Mackers has said and am very happy with them. They have gone up slightly (were under £100 a few weeks ago) but at £109 they are still the cheapest I have found.

When I was trying to source the 150s I had a chat with a man at Dabners (someone posted a link earlier). He was telling me that Ferplast are releasing a 160 cage which would be the biggest on the market, however they (Dabners) ordered one in to have a look and the man I spoke with said that the quality was terrible and that they were very overpriced (were going to retail at over £200, I can't quite remember, he may have said £250). He said that they weren't going to bother because no one would buy them as they sell lots of the Trixie 150s.

redfrocks idea of linking two cage together is great! And the Ferplast 140s look great. I didn't want two cages linked (I have two groups of piggies so needed seperate cages).

Unless you have a lioness. your piggies would be fine with a C&C. I followed the idea here (http://www.guineapigcages.com/buycc.htm) for the shelving to use as a top, and have reinforced the grids with zip ties, and my son's cat cannot get into the cage period. When properly constructed, with a shelving top, and reinforced with zips, the C&C is a good solid cage.
