Hi all, my boy guinea pig Fudge was neuterd 3 weeks ago everything seemed to heal fine he's eating, drinking, toileting as normal but was noticed he had what was a small lump around by his penis which vet thought was just swelling from the op had metacam for 5 days but lump still remained but was causing no pain etc fast forward to tonight when I got Fudge out for cuddles and the lump has grown massively it's moveable and doesn't appear to be causing Fudge any pain still eating drinking etc as normal, I've put a dry towel in his cage tonight to check he is weeing but he is deff pooping as normal. I'm going to ring vets as soon as they open tommorow to bring his appointment forward as I'm very worried about this lump, as I say it's moveable, not hard and Fudge doesn't flinch or make any noise when it's touched. I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas what this could be?

Hi and welcome

I am very sorry.

Please have your boy seen a by your vet promptly. It is most likely an abscess, which is the most common post-neutering complication but it could be something else.

You can find more information on neutering ops, including post-op monitoring and possible complications in this guide link here: Neutering operations: Considerations, post-op care and complications and a successful recovery example

Here is the access link to our emergency and bridging care information in case your oby is starting to feel unwell and is losing weight and his appetite quickly: Emergency and Crisis Care as well as Bridging Care until a Vet Appointment

All the best.
