Lap time sounds

Personally I judge more by the body language than the noises. With my boys I sometimes feel like they are whinging but are splooted out flat and definitely very relaxed. Maybe a bit anthropomorphic but I attribute it to them telling me all about their day!

Is this a content happy sound, or is my piggy telling me she wants to go back home?

Hi and welcome

He is a bit apprehensive but he is talking (which is good) and his body language is not tense.
This kind of chatting away is typical for youngsters. It gives the rest of the group an update of where he is and how is doing/feeling. The higher pitched and louder the more nervous or stressed he is.

With guinea pigs, communications consists of body language (as the easiest to decipher), vocalisation (which can be difficult to judge correctly just on its own), situational context and pheromones/smell - the latter is very important for piggies but not accessible for us. Guinea pig interaction is much more complex than most owners assume since piggies can modulate all these components which gives them a different meaning in various contexts.
