Just a quick query, are females udually more vocal than males?

My boy sunny is super laiday back and usually only wheeks for food, but Lola....

She burbles non stop, 24/7!

I was just curious, is this a female thing or could just be that she's chatty?

I think it's more down to personality than gender, sounds like you have a chatterbox  :luv:

Looks like it! she's very hyper as well!

I attempted to give them lap time yesterday and she was fidgeting so much Sunny sat on her head to stop her from moving

As I type, she's doing zoomies around the cage XD

I think she's just a chatterbox. My boy only ever makes noise when he's having laptime and getting stroked but his female cage mate will wheek at the slightest sound (but doesn't enjoy laptime so no noises there)

My boy & 3 girls are all lively, noisey, chatterboxes, i've forgotten what silence sounds like!
:lol!:

:lol!:

Peter used to be more chatty but he's pushing 7 now and quite frail with health problems so I think a year or two ago he gave up and let the younger girls do the hard work for him :)) He still greets me at the bars at feeding time but just no noise

I don't blame Peter letting the girls do the work now he's 7 - i hope he's enjoying his retirement :)

My boy Rowan is only 5 months old, my oldest girl Poppy is 7 months old, my other 2 girls Fern & Heather are nearly 3 months old - First time in my life i've had a group all under a year old, and they're full of cheek! :))

I have to say on a serious note I miss the balance of having an older piggie in the group, the little ones do learn a lot from them.

I find its a girl thing.

When 2 boys are together then yes one will be louder than the other but if it's one boar and a bunch of girls then the boar is happy to sit back and let the women make all the noise for him.
Of course if you asked him he'd say "I like to let her think she is the boss, thats why she is louder". But we all know its the other way around and its the girls in charge foolin the guy.

Ruby is our chatterbox - that pig can't move without squeaking.
Lucy and Oreo are our wheekers - between the two of them they sound like air raid sirens.
Eddi is our manly rumble strutter - he wanders happily around the cage waggling his butt and rumbling away to himself all the time.

I've only ever had girls but all of mine have been different-some have been like mini foghorns that never shut up to others that do the occasional purr or "wheep with all variations in between.

Even the personalities of some of the girls together have made a difference to their volume levels!

Eg, one of mine was virtually silent all the time I had her, but when she lost her pad-mate & got a new one her new one was very very vocal which made her come out of her shell a bit &she ended up being one of the loudest wheekers I ever had!

I find my girls constantly wheek for food or if they hear a bag rustle lol but my most vocal pig is Georgie. As soon as I get him out, he doesn't shut up making noise ha ha.

I've only had girls, but I've had some quiet ones and some noisy pigs (we have to turn up the TV when Sundae is on our laps, she is a constant 'chatterer' when you pat her.) I think it's more a personality thing than a gender thing.

Since Lola arrived, Sunny spends most of his 'active' time doing rumble struts and generally sounding like a mini helicopter! :))

Awww... bless him, 'Sunny the Copter' :lol!:

But the main thing; is Lola impressed at all? :luv:

Not in the slightest aha! She just wants to do zoomies around the cage and then bug him for snuggles. Every now and again I'll hear a 'whump' from the cage, and that's Sunny using his head to throw Lola out of whatever box he's in because she's annoying him too much :P
