Hi all, this doesn’t seem to be new, but we’ve always observed Pumpkin breathes very heavily when in somewhat stressful situations (picking up, adjusting on the scale or during lap time, etc). But sometimes it happens randomly. He usually calms down in a few seconds, and the breathing is normal again. He’s a very healthy pig, eats veggies, no extreme weight gain or loss, and runs around during playtime. Could this just be his breathing pattern?

Hi!

Guinea pigs will breathe faster when stressed but if the breathing is laboured during that time, then having the hearth and respiratory system vet checked might not be a bad idea.
