Hello,
My piggie has always had a ramp with a second level in it for his food so it kept it out of the sawdust and things which i really liked but now i've upgraded to a bigger cage with no ramp and level, and so his food is on the floor and i don't really like it,
I like the idea of making a big tray with hay in it.
The cage is bedded with sawdust, should i put sawdust in the bottom of the cat litter tray ?
Is there any other ways you make a separate kitchen area ?

Any pictures/ideas would be great, thanks xx>>>

What kind of cage have you got? I made Correx boxes, if you have boys I would suggest two exits.

In this picture you can see the hay tray at the top left hand corner.

I must admit I've since ditched VetBed, my pigs have megazorb and hay - I put there expensive hay in small bundles in the main sitting room and cheap hay in the hay tray, I personally think my pigs prefer this along with a cozy to sleep in home comforts and food everywhere every pigs dream! :(|)

i have a standard shop bought liberta cage it's a 120 (:
I have a C&C where i've looked at maybe a hay box ... seeing this has made me want to use the rest of my correx though ... hhmm haha. may end up making 2 kitchen areas today !

i'm not sure how i'd make it secure it's as shop bought cage, i made a level in my old one but it wasn't very good and that was for when my other two where in it, but Marmite isn't really a fan of levels anyways he didn't seem to like having to climb up the ramp all the time haha.

How wide is your cage Twiams? I have a couple of spare new platform and ramps for my shop bought R5A 120 if you wanted to add a kitchen platform into the new cage?

I got my cage from zooplus but the first one they sent out the base was smashed. They replaced it with a complete new cage so i ended up binning the damaged base but keeping all the bits and pieces from the first one. You're welcome to have one of the spare platform and ramps if it would fit?

There's pics of my cage with one of the platforms in on my thread 'Woo - new piggy home has arrived'.

Oh that would be amazing actually, he wants the level more for just being able to hide under it than anything, he has a little stool in at the minuet to put his cuddley bed under.

My cage is a liberta 120 i think (:

Yeh I saw the thread about his new pad. :) The platforms are grey and have little moulded plastic hook clip things around the edge that just click onto cage bars. It would only fit if the width of the cage is the same as mine. If you're able to measure from bar to bar the width of the cage (I know its 120 length but its the width that need to know) I'll check it against the platform.

I cover the ramp with an old thermal sock as they weren't keen on going up it before and this fives better grip . Wilbur & Otis both love hiding under the platform too.

Had a quick look at the liberta 120 online - it says its 60cm wide so think it should fit!

I've just been cleaning the boys out so took a quick pic so you can see how the platform attaches to the cage. Platform measures 59cm across and then the clips just hook over the horizontal cage bars...

This is the kind of hidey space you get when it's in place...
