Hi, so my piggie Finn is about 5 years old, recently he’s just stopped eating and seeming slow and tired, the vet thought it was his teeth so i gave him painkillers to see if he would eat but he still wasnt really eating, only a few veggies. I took him back today and hes there right now getting a scan, the vet suspects it could be renal failure, hes lost weight, tired and again no appetite. He hasnt been peeing excessively or drinking a lot, but theres no way to tell whats wrong without blood work and a scan so I'm doing the scan first. Does it sound like kidney failure? The vet mentioned sometimes they smell very strong of ammonia if they have kidney failure but he doesnt..? Any help or advice is appreciated, i dont want to give up on him

I’m sorry to hear this.

Hopefully further tests will shed some light on his issue.
Were his teeth checked is the vet thought dental issues?

In the meantime, make sure to syringe feed him and weigh him daily.

thank you for your response, his teeth were checked though ultimately this was not the cause, nor was his kidneys. He had gallbladder cancer, unfortunately i have had him pts as there was nothing they could do and he was very unwell <\3
