Hello,

I’ve been told my wee Guinea pig potentially has kidney disease.

I’m wondering what veg is best for him?

Thanks

Hi

There is no specific diet advice for kidney disease.

Please make sure that there is always plenty of filtered fresh water.

Dandelion and lettuce are mildly diuretic but please don't overfeed them grossly.

If your piggy is used to fresh grass, then it is an excellent food source. It needs to be dog pee-free and unsprayed. Any new introductions need to happen very gradual to give the gut microbiome time to adjust and produce enough specialist digestive bacteria in order to avoid diarrhea or potentially fatal bloat.
Don't feed frozen or just defrosted grass (in view of the time of year).

There is unfortunately not much that can be done with kidney problems in guinea pigs at this time apart from any pain relief.
