My girl Wilma constantly kicks me and scratch me when I try to pick her up. Coco is a little bit like this too but not as much. The other 2 girls runs away from me when I try to pick them up, all of them will try to, but when they are grabbed they sit there nicely.

It really hurts when I try to pick Wilma up wich results in me doing it less.

Can I stop it somehow? Or is something wrong? With her or me?

Thanks

Africa did or does similar to Wilma. What I learnt to do is, don't just go and pick her up, put your hand in the cage, they should eventually learn to come and sniff it, sometimes they try and bite but if you're guinea pig is like mine its barely a bite =] Anyways, then when she's quite near, try and slowly stroke her, do this for a few days (countless times in the day) and then eventually after doing this you'll be able to bring your other hand around and pick her up, sometimes they still fight a bit, but Africa has improved greatly, if he really doesn't want to be picked up for some reason then he'll be difficult again.

Hope this helps. x

You can try to corner her and wrap her in a towel when picking up.

It will get easier, if you can make a ritual out of it (always using the same words), so it's no longer "random violence" for her.

Wilma likes so bite too..when she's not content. If you hold her wrong of if you pick her up wrong or she simply doesnt like it, she will bite you and she will bite you hard.

Also, her claws are sooo sharp. I've been trying to filing them but it doesnt help as I cant do much since their nails are so fragile. How can I make them more soft?
