Hi

Can you please supply us with a picture so we can see what you mean with 'keratin cyst'. It's not an expression I have come across so far in 15 years on this forum.

But soaking in warm water won't help with an swelling, whatever it is - a sebacious cyst, abscess, fatty lump (lipoma) or trichofolliculoma (a benign tumor at the roots of hair).

Hi

If it is loosely in the skin, then it is either a sebacious cyst or trichofolliculoma (usually non-cancerous tumour at the hair root). Harmless fatty lumps (lipomas) tend to sit a bit deeper in the skin and quickly grow a bit larger before settling down.

If in any doubt, see a vet for a hands-on diagnosis. Also see a vet if a lump puts on a growth spurt; as an emergency if it is a very fast growing one.
