hi

I know this might be a stupid question, but just wondering how much bedding you use for your outdoor guinea pigs. At the moment I am filling their actual beds with hay (which they usually sit on and flatten down!), but am not putting any in the bed compartment as they will sit on it and wee on it. I don't want them to be cold, though, so just wondering what you all put in the bedding area and how much.

Thanks.

Sarah

I am filling the sleeping area about half way with hay and topping it up daily (as they eat some). I am also stuffing their domes with hay which are in the living area. I do this as sometimes a piggy may wish to go and have sometime by herself in a dome.

In the sleeping area, they have a cosy hammock and when it is cooler at night, they have been having a fleece bed or cosy in there as well.

My in laws are coming up for a few days on Wednesday so my father in law has said he will insulate the hutch for me over the weekend with the insulation I have brought.

I am holding off with the snugglesafes until the winter really hits although I have to admit, I used a couple the other night as it dropped down to about 4 degrees here.

Yeah, I'm topping up the bedding on a daily basis now, too. I don't want to put the covers on the hutches yet as, like Claire W says, it hasn't hit winter yet and don't want the piggies to not benefit from the covers when it gets colder if I put them on now. However, they are snuggling a lot more now and are in their bedrooms a lot more, so perhaps I need to increase the bedding even more. I've been keeping an eye on their temperatures and they are fine at the mo. I've only just got those covers for the water bottles and put them on last night - they're brill...
